Jason: “The win increases our desire to start the season”
Jason Remeseiro scored his unofficial first goal for Valencia CF in the friendly against FC Cartagena, and he spoke to VCF Media after the game.
“Finishing like this, with a victory, also strengthens us mentally. The league begins next weekend and I think that the entire team having a good game -and having won- makes us a little more comfortable and increases our desire for that,” he said.
“When a team goes ahead, it can be struggle mentally to react. However, we saw that the team recovered very well, and in the end we took the win, which is also important.”

Used as a sweeper for the first half of the game, Jason says he was able to adapt to the role.
“Two years ago, under Paco López at Levante UD, I played as a sweeper for half a season. It was something new for me, but I picked up the necessary aspects in attack and defence and I felt comfortable. It’s true that my natural position is as a winger, but the coach fielded this formation today. I felt pretty good, and scoring a goal helps you a lot mentally when you’re an attacker. I was very keen to score.”
After this latest result, Valencia CF conclude their preseason and now look forward to the LaLiga season opener next weekend.
“This isn’t a very typical preseason, because we didn’t have a camp anywhere -something that helps the group to get to know each other better. However, these games have been good for us, we’ve felt good in each of them, and taken on board the concepts of the coach, so we’re ready for next Sunday.”
